Our 18 month peanut!

On May 14th, Taylor turned 18 months! She is still our little peanut, but the doctor's say that she is "on her own curve" so that is good. She is still negative everything on all the charts, falling way below on size, but that is what makes Taylor who she is! She weighed in today at 17 pounds 6 ounces, and measured 28 3/4 inches long! She is still in 6-9 month clothes! But probably not for long. Her development is right on track for fine motor skills, gross motor skills, etc, but her communication exceeds where she should be! This is so great! If we give her directions, even those containing 6 or more words, she knows what to do! Now whether she does them or not... :) Her newest words are fish, Rhi Rhi (Rhino), raffe (giraffe), swing, couch, chair, milk (although is comes out "ick"), KoKo (kody our cat), MOMMY! YAY!, bird, "yeah" (with fist pumping), wow, eewww, up, down, and night night. I know I forgot some but you all get the idea!

Easter, A trip to the Toldeo Zoo, a Goofy Taylor, and a Happy Mother's Day

We celebrated Easter by visiting with my mother and going out to see Tony's family. It was a lot of driving, but Taylor did well with it. I have to say, she got so much candy, that we had to eat some of it! She received a basket from the Easter bunny at Bushka's, Grandma and Grandpa Van Sant's and at our house! We headed home on Easter Sunday and did an Easter egg hunt at out house. It was rather simple, but Taylor seemed to enjoy it. Her favorite part was finding the eggs and licking them. Needless to say we had a baby with a very colorful face! Taylor also loved to eat the chocolate bunny, and there was the proof on her face, all while giving us "angry eyes," her new favorite thing.

After a short vacation to relax for Tony, and a much needed break for me, Tony and I met up with the Van Sant clan and Taylor at the Toledo Zoo on April 18th. Joshua, Kayla and Nick were there, along with Uncle Keith and Grandma and Grandpa. Everyone seemed to have a great time. Taylor is finally old enough to look around and understand the concepts that are happening around her. She even made a ton of animal noises at the correct animals! We all had a great day, but we were a little unprepared as far as dress attire! It ended up being an 83 degree day and we were all in pants! Luckily we did bring the sunscreen so no one ended up getting burnt. Taylor had a lot of fun playing with her cousins, and having the freedom (or so she thought - we watched her very carefully!) to walk around at the zoo! Some of the best animals were the sloth bear, who came right up to us at the window and the hippos, who Tay loved to watch swim by! We rode the train, and Taylor really enjoyed seeing the animals, and the ride! We stopped at the bird sanctuary last, where the birds fly free, but little tired Taylor had actually passed out in the stroller!

Throughout the past couple of months we have found Taylor in some very silly spots. Since she is so tiny still, she fits into the funniest things, especially her favorite thing to sit or lay in... the cat bed! If she doesn't fit into tiny things, she sure does look very tiny in them! Taylor has also loved to wear wigs while in the bath! She looks ridiculous with her old fashioned Parliament "Whig" in the bath tub!

May 11th was our very first Mother's Day! Tony woke me up to breakfast already ready, with my gifts from Tony and Taylor on the counter. Tony got me some red impatients and a lovely card, and Taylor got me a book by my favorite author and the most hilarious card! It has a picture of a baby doing "angry eyes" which is something Taylor loves to do! After we were done with breakfast, we got Taylor up and ready for the day and headed out for brunch. From there it was off to my mothers (aka Bushka!) to visit for a while. We had a good time, but it rained all day. Other than that, everything was wonderful!
