A later day

Today a new family joined us so we were unable to visit Taylor until 2pm. This was a different change of pace. We woke up and got ready for the day as usual, but instead of going to see Taylor we went to lunch with Baheet, Gulsana and the new family. It was great getting to meet the new members of our little tribe here in Astana. After lunch we went to the baby house to see Taylor and we finally got the rain that we were hoping for! We thought that it would be great but it turned out to make things even more muggy than they were previously. We got to feed Taylor lunch and then take her into the play room, which was horribly hot. Unfortunately it was raining so we were forced to stay inside. We played and giggled and had a good time until about an hour and a half in. Then Taylor began to get cranky, which was probably due to the heat. At this point the rain had stopped but it was now very hot! So we decided to walk around the inside of the baby house instead. When it was time to go we had a very hard time saying goodbye. With each passing day it gets harder and harder!

Baheet applied to court today so hopefully we will know on Monday when our court date is. After we go to court, we have a 15 day waiting period before Taylor can come home with us. this means that we still have about three more weeks of seeing Taylor in the baby house for only two hours per day.

I think that the weather, the different diet and the overall changes is catching up with Tony. He is right now, as I type this, sleeping on the couch. He had begun complaining about feeling sick last night and it has continued into today. I hope it is something that will go away quickly. The baby's in the baby house are also beginning to get sick. Milat (Mike and Jennifer's little boy) is sick and Kate (Annette and Marwarn's little girl) is beginning to sound congested. I hope this passes soon!

I know that all the changes you guys have gone through in the last few weeks have taken their toll. Just be sure to get plenty of rest and eat well. Sounds like things are moving along at a good pace and before too long you three will be home. Hugs to all. Take care

Hi VanSants
Hang in there. This was about the time we were tired of the process. Hopefully you will get a second wind, when you find out your court date. I also spent a weekend sick...we thought it was something I ate. We hope Tony feels better.

Have you tried the Birch Juice yet? One of the things we miss.
Hopefully the new family will help make Sunday pass a little easier too.
Good Luck.

Thanks for your posts. Your pictures are darling.
Sorry to hear that the changes are getting you guys.
Get rest and excercise! Coming from an immunologist- circulate those white blood cells! =).
Best wishes and blessing to you.

Questions: What do you do when you are not at the babyhouse? Seems like a lot of downtime. Are there movies? Places to go sightseeing like museums? Can you go out to the countryside and back?

Glad things are moving along.

If Baheet has not taken you to Arbat's yet, which she MUST have in the past 2 weeks, go there and get the donner sandwhich or the "potatoe boat" pizza. There is an AC unit by the door when you come in, so sit there.

He might be sick from the combo of the heat and the food. There are manyt hings that could do that. Anyways, I hope all is well. I noticed how attached to Taylor you look in your pictures. I am glad you have a strong bond with her already. Can't wait for you to come home

Oh man, I am so sorry Tony is sick. My son and I have the stomach bug all this week. It's a drag, and we're at home with it not in a forgein country.

Taylor is really adorable and you guys are such a cute family. It's so neat to see how much she loves you already. Very encouraging for those of us still waiting. :)

Your daughter is as sweet as pie. She has big pouty lips like my Sophie. So cute. Astana looks so pretty, Karaganda...not so much.

Hi, We were Ust in 7/05 adopting our daughter and boy was it hot. Th group of people we were with all pitched in and bought 2 fans that we donated to the play-room in the baby-house. It made such a difference during our visits! And hopefully many families have been able to enjoy the fans. Ask your translator if your group could do the same. Good luck and Taylor is beautiful. I am so incredibly happy for the both of you and know what you are going through. Taylor won the lottery being adopted by the two of you and what your going through will be well worth it.

Congratulations!
